Jeanne Laveta Noble

ALBANY — Dr. Noble passed away Thursday, October 17, 2002, in New York City. 
Funeral services were held at The Church of the Ascension in New York City on 
October 26, 2002.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of 
St. John and St. Mark in Albany.

Dr. Jeanne Laveta Noble, the eldest child and only daughter of Floyd G. Noble 
and Aurelia P. Noble was born on July 18, 1926, in Albany, GA. She went on to 
become a scholar, authority on higher education and a civic leader who made 
pioneering contributions to women's organizations and the arts. Her educational 
career began under the tutelage of her grandmother in the public schools of 
Albany, GA. A graduate of Howard University, Jeanne received her masters and 
doctorate in education from Columbia University and completed additional 
studies at the University of Birmingham in England.

Dr. Noble is survived by two brothers, John (Barbara) Noble Sr. of St. Louis, 
MO, and William (Alma) Noble of Albany, GA; four nephews; two nieces; three 
great nephews,; three great nieces and other relatives and extended family 
members
