Little Evelyn Nelson, the 20months old daughter of Captain and Mrs. W. E. Wooten, died in Gainesville Thursday night, the sad intelligence being received in Albany by telegram yesterday morning. The little one had always been delicate, and some weeks ago Mrs. Wooten went with her to Gainesville, hoping that a change of climate would be beneficial. At first the little sufferer improved, then grew worse and commenced improving again, but the end was not far off. Capt. Wooten went up to Gainesville a week ago, and was by his child's bedside when the end came. The sympathy of the whole of Albany goes out to these young parents in the loss of this, their second child, the first having been taken away three years ago. May they find the only balm that can come into their aching hearts, the balm of the great Comforter. The remains were brought down on last night's Central train, and were carried to the residence of Mrs. Wooten's father, Mr. T. M. Carter, on Jefferson street, whence the funeral will occur this morning at 10 o'clock. The services will be conducted by Rev. W. F. Smith, and the following gentlemen will act as pall bearers: J. I. Gilbert, W. T. Cox, C. R. Davis and J. G. Hilsman. ******************************************************************************** Death of an Infant. A telegram to Mr. T. M. Carter from Capt. W. E. Wooten this morning brought the sad intelligence of the death of his little infant daughter, Evelyn Nelson Wooten which occurred at Gainesville last night. The child has been suffering for some time past with a complication of infantile diseases, and several weeks ago Mrs. Wooten carried the child to Gainesville, hoping that the change of climate would prove beneficial to it, arid that there it might regain its health. Such was not the case, however, as the child's condition grew worse, and a few days ago Capt. Wooten was summoned to its bedside. Little Evelyn was just twenty months old and was the second child of her parents. Their first child died just three years ago this summer. As the news, of the death of the second child spread on the streets this morning, many a smiling face was changed into one through which as reflected a sad heart. In their sad bereavement, Capt. and Mrs. Wooten are extended the sincerest sympathies of the entire community, which has been made sorrowful by the sad intelligence. ******************************************************************************** Penny Press Albany, Georgia Not sure which girl but believe this is Evelyn Buried This Morning.
