Mrs. Martin Succumbs Here

Mrs. Lalar McDonald Martin, 74, of 1013 Whitney Avenue, died this morning in 
Phoebe Putney Hospital.

Mrs. Martin was born Oct.7, 1890, in Lee County, the daughter of William A. and 
Mittie Bailey McDonald. She had been a resident of Albany for the last 46 years 
and had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. W. R. Barker. She was a member of 
the Church of Christ. She retired in 1953 after having been one of two women 
shoemakers in the United States for 35 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. W.R. Barker;a son J.B. Martin of Atlanta ; a 
sister,Mrs C.H. Kendrick, and a brother, Tucker McDonald , both of Albany; 10 
grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kimbrell-Stern Chapel 
by Sam Hartline,minister. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery withe 
Kimbrell-Stern in charge of arrangements.
