Luke were held today at 3 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Mitchell County. The Rev. H. N. Earnest, pastor, conducted the services. Interment followed in Sunset Cemetery, Meigs. Serving as pallbearers were M. Sgt. O. A. Boyd, Jeff Maddox, Kunyon Cowart, Carrett Hayes, Joe Harrell and Jim Olivant. Mr. Luke, 61, died Wednesday afternoon in Phoebe Putney Hospital following a lengthy illness. He had been a resident of Albany for the last four years moving here from Conway, S. C. Before moving to South Carolina he had been a resident of Georgia all his life. At the time of his death, he lived at 720 Society Ave. He was a retired automotive mechanic. Mr. Luke was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Besides his wife, the former Miss Irene Atkinson of Moultrie, he is survived by three daughters; Mrs. Turner Barnett of Meigs, Mrs. M. J. Wicks of Battle Creek, Mich. Mrs. D. E. Martin Jr. of Conway S. C.; three sons, T. Sgt. J. W. Luke of Albany, T. Sgt. Warren H. Luke of Puerto Rico and S. Sgt Robert M. Luke of Keesler Field, Miss; two sisters, Mrs. P. E. O'Quinn and Mrs. C. E. O'Quinn both of Walterboro, S. C. and 18 grandchildren. The Albany Undertaking Company is in charge of arrangements.
