Services will be conducted by Chaplain Charles W. Stipek and Chaplain Roscoe E. Bell both of Turner Air Force Base. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be W. B. Jackson, lewis L. Rogers, Ed Wilder, Howard Nowell, Tobby Macker, and Clarence E. Rubadou Jr. An honorary escort will be formed by Leo Leader, George Mock, O. D. Culpepper, George Sabados, Frank Faulk, Whitfield Gunnels, Dr. Thomas D. Johnson, R. E. McCormack Sr. and Joe A. Meyer. Mrs. Tompkins was born in Albany and reared in Cuthbert. Before her marriage she was the former Miss Louise Pearce, daughter of Philip E. Pearce and the late Carrie Massey Pearce of Albany. Before her illness she was prominently identified with music circles of the city. For the last eight years she had been organist at the Turner Field Chapel and prior to that time she had served as organist for many of the local churches. She was a member of the Albany Womens's Club and a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Albert H. Tompkins of Albany; a daughter, Mrs. Charles D. Poole of Japan; a son, Albert H. Tompkins Jr. of Norwalk, Calif; father Philip E. Pearce of Albany; two aunts Mrs. Mabel Massey Rogers and Mrs. E. P. Nowlin, both of Albany and five grandchildren.
