Jason Pearson Powell

ALBANY — The funeral service of Jason Pearson Powell, 91, of Beattie Rd., 
Albany, who died Thursday July 26, 2007 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice, in 
Marietta, GA will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. 
Rev. Ken Myers will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. 

A native of Thomas County, GA, Mr. Powell had resided in Albany since 1932. He 
was a World War II veteran and participated in the invasion of Normandy. Mr. 
Powell was a retired barber with Shiver’s Beauty Shop and was a member of 
Avalon United Methodist Church and The Men’s Bible Class. Mr. Powell was the 
widower of Bertha Hall Powell. 

Survivors include a son, William David Powell and his wife, Liz of Burlington, 
VT, a daughter, Mary Jane Knight of Marietta, GA, a sister, Montine Robertson 
of Philadelphia, PA, six grandchildren, Freya Plower and Collin Knight of 
Marietta, GA, Jason Powell of San Francisco, CA, Chloe Powell of Barna VT, Rose 
Powell and Ben Powell both of Burlington, VT and two great-grandcdren. 

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 p.m. at 8 p.m. at Mathews Funeral 
Home. 

The family is at the residence of Marvin and Grace Banister, 908 Tallahassee 
Rd, Albany, GA 31721.
