His funeral service will be Monday 11 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby Moye officiating. A native of Chatham, VA, Mr. Powell had lived in Lee County most of his life. He was a graduate of Lee County High School. He was a salesman with Freeway Auto and had worked with Pritchett Ford and Aultman Cadillac. Mr. Powell also served as Chief of Police of Leesburg. Survivors include his sons, Adam Jacob Powell of Albany, and Anthony Michael Powell and his wife Angela of Canton; grandchildren, Abbie, Allie, and Cloie; sisters, Kathy Turner, and Elizabeth Williams, both of Albany, Cecelia Hite of Edinburg,VA; and brothers, Gene Powell of Augusta, and John Herren of Florida. The family will receive friends today (Sunday) 3 p.m.-5 p.m. at Kimbrell- Stern.
