Reed, Sr., 88, of Albany, who died August 11, 2007 at The Presbyterian Home in Quitman, GA, will be conducted Monday at 3:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor Alan McDaniel will officiate. A private family interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. A native of Muscogee County, Mr. Reed was raised in Columbus and had resided in Albany since 1951 moving from McRae, GA. He was a World War II Navy veteran and served in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Reed was employed with Lance, Inc. and retired after thirty years as a district manager. After his retirement, he was a constant figure at and served as Vice President of Reed True Value Hardware. Mr. Reed was widower of Pearl Catherine Reed and was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. Survivors include his two sons and their wives, Charles (Buddy) and Toinette Reed of St. Simon’s Island, GA and Gary and Paula Reed of Albany, GA, a sister, Connie Shockley of Waverly Hall, GA, seven grandchildren, Peyton (Lisa) Reed of Dahlonega, GA, Charles W. (Melanie) Reed III of Lawrenceville, GA, Katherine Toinette Reed of Columbia, SC, Shannon (Jerry) Payne of Albany, GA, Heather (Grant) Chesnut of Forsyth, GA, Ryan (Sarah) Harris of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Chuck (Tracy) Harris of Tallahassee, FL and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. today (Sunday) at Mathews Funeral Home. Those desiring may make contributions to The Presbyterian Home, P.O.
