Carl Harold Schmidt

ALBANY — Carl Harold Schmidt, 55, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died Sunday, 
November 3, 2002.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Sunnyside Baptist Church 
with the Rev. Lamar Ledford officiating.

Mr. Schmidt lived in Albany since 1973 after being stationed at the Albany 
Naval Air Station until he moved to Indiana in 1998. While living in Indiana he 
supervised the Handleman and Indianapolis Motor Speedway and in Albany he 
served as a law enforcement officer for the Albany Police Department and the 
Dougherty Co. Sheriff Dept. Also had been employed by Miller Brewing Company 
for 14 years. He was owner and operated of Horses of Color and member of The 
Worth County Saddle Club and The Tifton County Saddle Club. A member of New 
Life Tabernacle Church located in Worth County.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Hamblen Schmidt of Indianapolis, Ind.; 
mother, Edith Bartlett Schmidt of Melbourne, Fla.; sister, Nancy Terry of 
Melbourne, Fla.; sons, Matthew Schmidt and Carl Schmidt, both of Albany, Hayden 
Schmidt of Norman Park and Joshua Hamblen of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughters, 
Colleen Vann and Angela Hopper, both of Albany, Mary Ann Schmidt of Greenville, 
Miss., Misty Schmidt of Norman Park, Mandy Hamblen of Indianapolis, Ind.; nine 
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
