Mr. Sellers was born in Mitchell County, and had lived in Albany since 1928. He graduated from Albany High School in 1934 and played basketball for the Indians. He attended Mercer University and played basketball there, graduating in 1940. He was inducted into the Mercer University Hall of Fame in 1994, and was inducted into the Albany Sports Hall of Fame in 1995. Mr. Sellers was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific for 3 years. He was a charter member Covenant Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder, and as a Deacon. He was a member of the Walter H. Burt American Legion Post 30. Mr. Sellers worked at Sears for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Celeste Greene Sellers and a great grandson Oliver Kenyon Stover Hill. Mr. Sellers is survived by a son: Thomas K. Sellers, Jr., Albany; a daughter: Kendall S. Stover and her husband Mitch, Minneapolis, MN; 2 sisters: Doris S. Dellinger and Annette S. Shirah, both of Albany; a brother: Weymon G. Sellers, Fayetteville, GA; 5 grandchildren: Celeste Hill, St. Louis Park, MN, Camille Stover, Golden Valley, MN, Ken Sellers, Statesboro, GA, Jacob Sellers, Albany, Meredith Sellers, Albany; a great grandson: Elliot Kenyon Stover Hill. Those desiring may send memorials to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2126 W. Edgewater Dr., Albany, GA 31707. The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern Friday from 6-7:30 PM.His funeral service will be SATURDAY 2 PM at Kimbrell-Stern. The Rev. Dr. William D. “Biff” Coker will officiate.
