Siegmund Sterne Is Dead Following  Lengthy Illness

Mr. Siegmund Sterne, 81 beloved Albanian, died last night at 7 o'clock at the 
home of his daughter, Mrs. Raymond Marks, 111 North Monroe St., after a long 
illness.

Mr. Sterne was born August 13, 1856 in Bettlehausen, Germany and came to this 
country when he was 16 years old.  He moved to Albany in 1872.  

A fine gentleman of high principals and character, Mr. Sterne was one of 
Albany's best known and highly respected citizens.  News of his death brought 
saddness to the entire community.

Five children all of Albany survive.  They are: Mrs. Charles Robinson, Mr. 
Lionel Sterne, Mr. Sidney Sterne, Mrs. Raymond Marks and Mr. Lee Sterne.

Five grandchildren, Lee Sterne Jr., Frances Sterne, George Sterne, Pauline 
Marks and Janet Marks survive.

The funeral of Mr. Sterne will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the 
home, conducted by Dr. E. A. Landau, Rabbi Temple B'nai Israel. Interment will 
follow in Oakview and Albany Lodge No. 24 will have charge of the service at 
the grave.
