Three others in the car escaped serious injury and were able to come on to Albany. W. Scott and Sterling and Loring Gay, also of Albany, were in the car. Scott was driving and is believed to have lost control of the machine in the darkness as he rounded a curve. The accident happened about 1:30 o’clock Sunday morning as the party was returning from Americus to Albany via Leesburg. It is said that the machine was being driven at moderate speed. Thompson’s neck was broken and he died instantly. He was the son of Mrs. Jane Thompson, widow, of this city and member of a well known family.
