Mary NeSmith Jeffords Tipton

   SYLVESTER — Mary NeSmith Jeffords Tipton, 90, of Sylvester, died Saturday, 
December 31, 2005 at Palmyra Nursing Home in Albany.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today (Monday) at Banks Funeral Home 
Chapel, with bur ial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Dr. Tom Jacobs 
officiating.

Born in Worth County on May 5,  1915,  Mrs. Tipton  was the daughter of the 
late  David George Jeffords Sr. and Julia NeSmith Jeffords. She was a life
long resident of Worth County. She was a retired speech  teacher with the Worth 
County Board of Education. Mrs. Tipton was a member of the Barnard Trail 
Chapter of the Daughters  of  the  American  Revolution    and    Sylvester
Woman's Club. She was also a member of First Baptist Church  of Sylvester, 
where she was a Sunday School teacher of the five years old class for a number
of years and also a member of the Bykota Sunday School Class. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tipton was preceded in death by two brothers, 
David G. Jeffords,Jr. and Harmon Jeffords. Survivors include a daughter
and son-in-law, Susan T. and Jerry Webb of Albany; a son, Kelt Tipton of 
Marietta; grandchildren,Maribeth Atherton (David), Paige Fountain, Gray, Tyier 
and Sage Tipton; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, and Anna Pane 
Atherton; and two sisters-in-law, Mary C. and Laverne T.Jeffords, both of 
Sylvester.

The family will receive friends today (Monday), 1 p.m. until service hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Margaret Jones Library, 205 
Pope St.,Sylvester, GA 31791.
