Doris Singleton Welch January 28, 1919 - November 3, 2008 BUENA VISTA, GA — 
Doris Singleton Welch, 89, of Buena Vista, Georgia, died Monday, November 3, 
2008 at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany, Georgia. Funeral services will be 
held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at Union United Methodist 
Church in Marion County with Reverend John Homer officiating. Burial will 
immediately follow in the church cemetery.  Mrs. Welch was born January 28, 
1919, in Marion County, Georgia, to Grover Cleveland and Bertha Harris 
Singleton. A self-employed merchant, she owned and operated Wells and Welch in 
Buena Vista for over 50 years. She was Methodist by faith and was a member of 
Union United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in 
death by her husband, James Arthur Welch and by four brothers, Lucas Singleton, 
Claude Singleton, Mark Singleton, and Ben Singleton, and by three sisters, 
Melba Stephens, Vera McMickle, and Mary Wells. She is survived by two sons and 
daughters-in-law, Mickey and Judy Welch and Kim and Dawn Welch, all of Buena 
Vista, GA; by five grandchildren, April and Brian Moon, Misty and Howard 
Tibbitt, Mikki and Burt Guest, Brandon Welch, and Jacob Welch, and by one great 
granddaughter, Julianne Moon.  Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista is in charge 
of arrangements
