The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with interment in Colquitt City Cemetery. The Rev. Talmadge Worsley and the Rev. Walter Daniels will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Petty Officer Raleigh Roberts III, Gene Burke, Brad Hornsby, Larry Hornsby, Vann Hornsby and Bobby Sheffield. Dr. Williams was an honor graduate of the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine. He also farmed for many years on his family farm to which he took great pride in the plentiful bounty that the earth gave in return. He ended his career with over twenty years of service to the United States Department of Agriculture, where he enjoyed the comradery and friendship of his fellow employees. Dr. Williams was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed the ocean side passing on his love of sailing. He was an avid sailor and an accomplished long distance runner and cyclist. Dr. Williams touched many lives through his journey and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who came to know him. Survivors include his mother, Arlie Hornsby Williams of Colquitt; sister, Jeanne Williams Lofton of Albany; daughter, Shea Williams Roberts (William Raleigh II) of Sautee-Nachoochee, GA; son, Wesley Steven Williams of Atlanta; grandchildren, Petty Officer William Raleigh Roberts III, Naval Nuclear Power Command, Charleston, SC, India Shea Roberts of Sautee- Nachoochee, Wesley Williams and Travis Williams, both of Atlanta; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Williams. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Special Olympics or the American Heart Association.
