Izell Williams, Sr. 

ALBANY — Izell “Zell” Williams, Sr., 70, of Magnolia Ave. Leesburg died July 
20, 2007 at his home. 

The funeral service will be at 3 P.M. Saturday, July 28, 2007 at New Direction 
Christian Church Ministries, 1109 Centennial Ave. with Apostle Izell Williams, 
Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery 
in Worth County. 

He was joined in holy matrimony to Ruthie Mae Anderson and to this union four 
children were born. 

Zell confessed Christ at an early age of 6 years old in 1943 at Mount Olive 
Baptist Church in Warwick. He was ordained a Deacon in 1965. In 2005 he moved 
his membership to the Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church in Albany, which 
relocated to their new facility New Direction Christian Church. On February 25, 
2007 he was ordained as an honorary Deacon of New Direction, and also a Member 
of the New Direction Adult Center. 

Survivors include his wife, Ruthie Mae Williams of Leesburg; one son, Apostle 
Izell (Theresa) Williams, Jr. of Leesburg; four daughters, Aldine (Lundy) Metz, 
Leavon (David) Britten and Mamie (Lofunza) Jones, all of Leesburg and Erica 
Trice of Cordele; Ernestine Rogers of Tifton; Bessie Cummings, Homerville and 
Gina Mae Angry of Atlanta; four brothers, Lingbery (Mary) Williams of Cordele, 
Willie D. (Judy) Williams and Monroe Jones of Ashburn; Robert Lee Williams of 
Atlanta; two sisters in law, Lillie Witherspoon and Mary O’Neal, both of 
Albany; 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
