Columbus Williams Sr. 

ALBANY — Columbus Williams Sr., 82, of  Mobley Rd., Doerun, died September 4, 
2007, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. 

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2007, at Chapel Hill 
Baptist Church, 1451 Gintown Rd., Sylvester, with interment in the church 
cemetery. The Rev. Larry James will officiate. 

Born November 8, 1924, in Worth County, Mr. Williams attended Worth County 
public schools. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Williams was a member of Chapel 
Hill Baptist Church where he was a member of the deacon board. 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Heppard Williams of Doerun; three sons, U.S. 
Navy Retired Captain Columbus, Jr. and Margretta Williams of Hughesville, MD, 
U.S. Navy Retired Commander Claven Williams Sr. and Bobby Williams Sr., both of 
Doerun; two daughters, Odester W. Cheatham of Doerun and Shirley W. and Walter 
Gordon of Marietta; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

The family of Mr. Williams will receive friends and relatives at Meadows 
Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. 

The remains of Mr. Williams will be placed in the church Saturday morning from 
10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
