I have also taken the liberty of fixing the mistakes in the obituaries. In one obituary they listed my grandmother as Mr. Carl Albritton. Drake 60, of 201 Hill St. died Friday night after lengthy illness. He was born in Albany and lived here all his life. He was a veteran of World War I. Attended Byne Memorial Baptist church and was a member of Masonic Lodge 24, F&AM. For many years he owned a grocery business. Surviving are his wife the former Katie Kolbie: two children, Marion T. Drake of New York and Roy Drake of Albany; A grandson, Victor D. Drake of Albany; two sisters, Mrs. E.C Albritton (Janie Elizabeth) of Quincy Florida and Mrs. C. Paul (Minnie Ola) of Pasadena, California. Funeral services for George D. Drake will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of the Woodall Funeral Home. The Rev. E. I. Lewis will officiate and interment will follow in Oak View Cemetery. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Obituary of Kate Drake (08/09/65 – 08/10/65) Mrs. Kate Drake Succumbs Here Mrs. Kate Drake, widow of George W. Drake, died today at Phoebe Putney Hospital a few hours after suffering an attack at her residence, 515 Pine Bluff Rd. She was a native of Camilla, but had lived in Albany most of her life and was a member of First Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Marion Traube of Alaconte, Spain; a son Ray Drake of Albany, and one grandson, Victor Dobner of Albany. Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Leonard Cochran, pastor of First Methodist Church, Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Oaklawn Chapel Funeral Home. Residents of Marion’s Trailer Court will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Oakview Cemetery. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Obituary of W. E. Drake. (01/23/57 - 01/24/57) born June 1, 1870 Funeral services for William E. Drake of Cordele Road, who died Wednesday morning in Phoebe Putney Hospital, were held today at the Byne Memorial Baptist church, with the Ref. Hugh E. Brinkly of Quincy, Fla., and the Rev. C. R. Pittard officiating. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Drake owned and operated the Drake Vault Company in Albany for 27 years. He was retired at the time of death. Surviving are his wife, the former Della Powell of Crisp county: a son, George Drake of Albany; Two daughters Mrs. Elizabeth Albritton of Quincy, Florida and Mrs. C. C. Paul of Pasadena, Calif.; four grandchildren and a great- grandchild. Pallbearers were Dr. Andrew Mooney, John Duke, Leo Strawder, Bob Horn, R.L. Hall, Robert Heir, Johnny Cox and E. F. Mote. Drake 207 Oglethorpe Ave., died early this morning at her home. She is survived by her husband: two daughters, Mrs. E. C. Albritton (Janie Elizabeth) and Mrs. C. C. Paul of Albany (Minnie Ola), a son, George D. Drake of Albany; and three grandsons and two granddaughters. Leonard 75, died early yesterday morning at her home 408 Residence Avenue following a three day illness. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon in Byne Memorial Baptist Church. The service was conducted by the Rev. G. A. Cooper, pastor. Interment followed in Oakview Cemetery. The following were pall bearers: Active Messrs. R.J. Bacon, W.S. Newsome, J.H. Duke, J.A. Banks, David Dekle, and R.E. Davis: Honorary, Wallace Crouch, J. C. Morgan, O.B. Bozeman, R.R. Turner. J.M. Kingsley and I.B. Campell. Mrs. Leonard was a charter member of Byne Memorial Baptist church and was very active in church work. She was beloved by an unusually wide circle of friends. She is survived by a brother Mr. W. E. Drake: a nephew, Mr. George Drake, both of Albany: and two nieces, Mrs. E.C. Albritton of Quincy (Janie Elizabeth), Fla. and Mrs. S. E. Battson (Minnie Ola) of Cordele.
