MAURICE TIFT WEDS MISS LULA WOOTEN A Host of Friend Witness Their Union at St. Paul's Church, -- Which was Followed by an Elegant Reception at the Artesian House. The marriage of Mr. Maurice Tift to Miss Lula Wooten at St. Paul's Episcopal church last evening, was an event for its brilliancy will long be remembered by those who were so fortunate as to witness the beautiful and solemn rites. The decorations of the church were simply superb, and the sacred edifice under their beautiful arrangement pretented a picture of enchanting loveliness. Graceful festoons of evergreens hung from every point of advantage and beautiful flowers yielded up their perfume and blushed under the mellow rays of a hundred lights. At the entrance to the chancel by either aisle stood an evergreen arch with evergreen gates, and another arch composed of evergreen and pink chrysanthemums stood just in front of the altar. From this was suspended an immense globe of pure white roses themums. Back in the oratory was the richest ot floral treasures, surrounded by a mass of which the silver cross caught the glow of the lights which it answered with reflections brighter still. At half past 8 o'clock the wedding party arrived at the church, which they entered in the following order: 1st. Flower Girls Misses Clara Mitchell, Susie Mann, Julia Tift and Willie Hall. 2nd. Ushers Messrs. George Warren, Bob Pattillo, Will Shackleford and Minor Weston. Attendants F. M. Nelson with Miss Fannie Holcombe. C. R. Davis with Miss Marian Hillyer Mr. J. S. Farnum with Miss Minnie Hillyer. Mr. Rob Forrester with Miss Rebecca Wooten. Mr. Joe Gilbert with Miss Ria Carter. The gentlemen were arrayed in the conventional full dress, while the brides maids wore elaborate gowns of white crepe de chine, and each carried bouquet of Prince Napoleon whites roses. Then Came the beautiful bride attired in a gown of white Faille, brocade and point lace, set off with a delicate bridal veil, and in her hand she bore a bouquet of Prince Napoleon rosebuds in which was concealed a valuable diamond rIng, which was subsequently drawn for by the bridesmaids and won by Miss Fannie Holcombe. She leaned upon the arm of her maid of honor Miss Eva Carter, who led her to the central arch, where she was joined by the groom who entered the church with his best man, Capt. W. E Wooten, by way of the oratory. As the young couple stepped under the arch, Rev. W. E. Eppes arose, and as the wedding march drifted into a softer symphony, pronounced the beautiful Episcopal ceremony which bound In loving union their devoted hearts. As Mr. Eppes completed the ceremony he stepped forward and gave the happy young couple his blessing and congratulations, and then the party left the church to the triumphant strains of the great organ, and entering carriages were driven to the Artesian House, where Mr. and Mrs. Tift became the hosts of one of the most elaborate receptions and banquets ever tendered In Albany. The proprietors of the Artesian left nothing undone to make the banquet one of exceptional brilliancy, and right well did they succeed. The wedding presents were numerous and valuable, and embraced many articles of artistic worth. After the banquet was over, the tables were removed from the dining hall and to the soft measure of sweet music many of the guests devoted the remaining hours of the evening to dancing. And thus ended one of the most beautiful and brilliant social events ever witnessed in Albany. It is unnecessary to speak in laudatory terms of either of the contractors to this happy union. They have long held a leading place in society and legion are their friends, and under the bending skies of' the brightest of futures these friends will follow them with their prayers and benedictions.
