W. J. Kenny was the first messenger to the Association from Providence Baptist Church. W. E. Hayes was the first Clerk of the church. The minutes disclose that Brother J. G. Corley served the church two years as pastor, 1901 and 1902 and baptized 5. He. was followed by Brother R. C. Poole who served 4 years, 1903 - 1906 inclusive, and baptized 22 into the church. Brother R. A. Morgan succeeded him in 1907 and served two years, baptizing 13. Brother E. T. Dawson then became pastor and served the church for 7 years, baptizing 8. Brother Dawson was followed by J. I. Quattlebaum who served for three years baptizing 6. He was followed by J. A. Pate. The Minutes are silent as to the number of baptisms. In 1903 J. C. Parish began his pastorate and served through 1930, baptizing 24 into the church. W. T. Bodenhammer then became pastor in 1931. Bro. Bodenhammer added 14 into the church by baptism. The clerks of the church have been as follows: W. E. Hayes, who served for six years. He was followed by O. H. Calloway who served one year, 1906. W. E. Hayes again became Clerk for three years. W. J. Kenney followed and served two years. Then Bro. J. T. Bruner was clerk for two years and after him brother G. W. Kenney. Brother J. T. Bruner again served in 1916, and was followed by Brother J. G. Harrell. He was followed by Bro. L. M. Bruner, who served for six years. Mrs. Harris then became Clerk for one year and Mrs. John Hudspeth succeeded her and served for two years. The membership of Providence Baptist Church at present is about 160. This church is located on the road leading from Blakely to Ft. Gaines and is known as the River Road.
