Alfred Rouse, Alfred Belcher, and Benjamin Tharp, were committed to jail, in this city [Albany, part of Baker Co., Ga in 1845], on Wednesday last, for passing spurious coin. The counterfeit is a good imitation , in copper and brass galvanized, of the American half eagle. Rouse says he lives in Alabama, Belcher is a citizen of Early Co., Ga. and Tharpe of this county. It is supposed that a large quantity of this spurious coin is in circulation, and that it would be well for those who deal in it to be on the look out.—Albany Courier.
