Early County News remarks that Mr. Abner Averitt, one of the oldest and most
highly respected citizens of our county, died on Friday night last, of heart
disease. He was in the 74th year of his age when he died. He leaves a numerous
progeny behind to mourn his death. He was the father of 15 children, 13 of whom
lived to be gorwn and the youngest of whom is now of age. He died in hope of
that rest which remaineth for the people of God.
