Martin World War I Veteran, Dies Fred E. Martin, 65, native and well known Early County farmer, died at his home in the Sowhatchee community Monday night. Mr. Martin, who had been in declining health for some time, had been quite ill for several weeks. Born in Early County on June 8, 1892, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Martin, one of a large family of children, four of whom now survive. He spent his life in the community where he died and was held in high esteem by his friends and neighbors who are saddened by his passing. Mr. Martin was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Sowhatchee Baptist Church, where his funeral was held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock with the Reverend W. E. Storey officiating. Interment was in Blakely Cemetery, with Bryan Funeral Home in charge. Surviving Mr. Martin are his widow, Mrs. Rosa Shepard Martin: four sons, Fred S. Martin of Live Oak, Fla., Elmer R. Martin of Albany, Ga., William A. Martin of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Allen B. Martin, USMC, Portsmouth, Va.; four daughters, Miss Lizzie Martin of Richmond, Calif., Miss Lorena Martin of East Point, Ga., Mrs. Robert P. McMcormick of Gonzales, Fla., Mrs. Eddie McGuire, Ossining, N. Y.; three brothers, A. C. Martin of Jacksonville, Fla., C. E. Martin of Blakely, Dr. E. E. Martin of Haines City, Fla.; and a sister, Mrs. G. C. Spillers of Tulsa, Okla.
