Martin. Young Martin was out hunting with his 8 year old brother, Allen, who accidently shot his older brother with a .22 - caliber rifle, the bullet entering the lower part of the back and penetrating the spinal column and abdomen. The youth died a few minutes later. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the family home in the Hilton community, with the Revs. Willie Wiley and D. E. Blalock officiating. Interment was in the Blakely cemetery, with the Minter Funeral Home in charge, and J. C. Sheppard, G. B. Sheppard, J. T. Sheppard, Hugh L. Martin Hoban Martin, John Hudspeth, Steve Sheppard and Elwood Martin serving as pall bearers. Surviving Johm who was born in this county on June 23, 1932, are his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Seaman First Class Fred S. Martin, of the U. S. Navy, in the Philippines; Sgt. Lizzie Martin, of the WAC, Washington, D. C.; Elmer Martin, in service, in California; Ambrose Martin and Lorena Martin, students at Abraham Baldwin College, Tifton; Evelyn Martin, Bessie Martin and Allen Martin, at home.
