Mrs. Clemmie Loyless Lanier, of Damascus, wife of the late Carl H. Lanier, died late Wednesday afternoon, April 26 in Palmyra Hospital, Albany, following a long illness. Mrs. Lanier was born in Early County January 16, 1894 and had spent all of her life in this county. She was a member of a well-known pioneer Early County family. Her parents were Joel Hightower Loyless and Ella Allen Loyless. Funeral services were held in the Damascus Methodist Church Friday afternoon, the Rev. Joe Kelly and the Rev. Johnny Deas officiating. Interment was in the Blakely Cemetery. Manry-Jordon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements and the following serving as pall bearers; Lynn Pullen, Joe Bryan, Lamar Billings, Hal Haddock, W. T. Dowdy and Bill Whatley. Survivors are 3 daughters, Mrs. C. C. Clark, Atlanta, Mrs. David Billings, Damascus, and Mrs. Willis R. Pittman, Bainbridge; 3 brothers, Guerry Loyless, Blakely, E. M. Loyless, East Point, Ga., Vance Loyless, Miami; 2 grandchildren, Robert Lanier Pittman and Miss Jennifer Pittman, of Bainbridge, Ga. Source: Volume 113, Number 36.
