Early County Georgia Obits Florrie Shepard Pullen - William Roy Pullen File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Brenda King McNair BMcnair614@aol.com Table of Contents page: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/early.htm Georgia Table of Contents: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm Florrie Shepard Pullen Mrs. Florrie Shepard Pullen, 90, the wife of the late William Roy Pullen, who lived the greatest part of her life in Damascus, died in Bullock County Hospital, Statesboro, Ga., Thursday afternoon, November 21, 1985, after a lengthy illness. A native of Miller County, she was born December 16, 1894, the daughter of William Byrd Shepard and Lizzie McNair Shepard. She was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon in the Manry- Jordan Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Robert Pullen, a great-nephew of the deceased officiated. Interment followed in the Blakely Cemetery with W. E. McDowell, Joe Bryan, Hal Haddock, E. L. Lewis, Dr. Whalen George and Norman Alexander serving as pall bearers. Survivors are two sons, Bill Pullen of Wildwood, Ga.; Ed R. Pullen of Statesboro; one brother, Bill Shepard, Leary; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. William Roy Pullen William Roy Pullen, 78, of Damascus died Monday in Calhoun Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Pullen, a retired Early County farmer, was deacon of the Damascus Baptist Church, a former member of the Early County Board of Education, a former Early County Commissioner, one of the first breeders of Pure Bred Cattle in this area, and a former president of the Short Horn Cattlemen's Association of Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Flora Shepard Pullen of Damascus, two sons, Bill Pullen of Wildwood, Ga.; and E. R. (My) Pullen of Statesboro, one sister, Miss Effie Pullen and one brother, Tom Pullen, both of Damascus. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3 p. m. at Damascus Baptist Church with interment at Blakely Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Pullen and the Rev. Harold Pullen officiated.
