OBITUARY

	Died, on-the 18th day of September 1878, in Grayson county, Texas, in 
the 74th year of her age, Mrs. Mary M. Beauchamp, consort of Sabird Beauchamp, 
Esq., and mother of Mrs. F.M. Brooks, of this city. She was the daughter of 
the Hon. Charles McCall, of Effingham county, who for many years represented 
that county in the Legislature of the State. She with her husband and family, 
removed from Georgia to Texas in 1856, where she resided up to the time of her 
death.

	Thus has passed from earth to heaven one of the best and purest women 
that ever lived. She was for more than 50 years a devout and consistent member 
of the Methodist church. Her piety was deep but undemonstrative, and she, in a 
very eminent degree, possessed that greatest of all gifts, charity, for she 
was rarely, if ever, known to speak unkindly of any one. She leaves an aged 
and devoted husband, and a large family of affectionate children. Her last 
illness was log and painful and her bodily sufferings most intense, which she 
bore without a murmur. She spoke sweetly and calmly of her death, and 
expressed the fullest assurance of her readiness to die, and requested her 
husband and children to meet her in that bright and better world above. May 
they all heed the solemn admonition, and may her many bright virtues and 
christian graces be remembered and imitated by those she left behind.
