Gray departed this life August 22 1866" [Submitter's notes: This Bible is in the possession of the submitter and was also used by the family of Asa Chandler Fortson (1847-1906) who lived at Goss, Elbert Co. The entries possibly relate to the family of Reece Gray and Martha Jane Pratt who were married on 10 Sep 1829 in Elbert Co., although the dates are not entirely consistent with that. All entries appear to be in the same handwriting and made at the same time. One Thomas L. Gray, born June 26, 1835, died June 4, 1898, is shown in an Elbert Co. cemetery book as being buried at Bethlehem UMC Church cemetery along with wife Mary J. Gray (nee Allgood), born Mar 4, 1832, died Feb 26, 1910. Marriage records show Thomas and Mary married on 6 Sep 1860.] Submitted by: Chandler Eavenson
