He graduated from Gibson-Mercer Academy and the Univ. of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine. On 15 Oct 1933 in Elbert Co. he married Sewell Venable Wallis (1906-1997), daughter of Gus Wallis (1870-1920) and Janie Sewell (1873-1936), Gus Wallis being the builder of many of the older homes and buildings in Elberton. Sewell attended Maryville College, TN and was an accomplished pianist and music teacher. In 1937 Dr. Adair moved his veterinary practice to White Co., GA and for many years was the only veterinarian in White Co. and other nearby mountain counties. During his life in White Co. he acquired over one thousand acres of land and before his death, aside from giving land to close friends, he placed much of the land in a trust for the benefit of Piedmont College in Demorest, GA, the land later having been developed into scenic residential sub-divisions near his home on Adair Mill Road. He died on 25 May 2002, just a few days short of his 101st birthday. He and wife Sewell are buried in Hillcrest cemetery at Bowman, GA. There were no children of the marriage.
