The cemetery office maintains an index card for each burial, but there were no cards for any BRAWNERS. I met with the sexton to solve this issue. Dr. William M. BRAWNER is supposedly in section 1-14-107 but has no visible tombstone. In fact, this seems to be the resting place for Guy Harper who has a tombstone. The referenced book also lists Mrs. Mary Brown Brawner. I found her burial place by accident. She has a large oval tombstone. I pulled the weeds and planted a plant in her enclosure. She in is in the BROWN section 2-7-136. Her daughter, Jesse BRAWNER Brown is buried next to her. Dr. Lucius W BRAWNER has a very tall white marble marker, but it appears that about a dozen markers were moved onto this lot and the body may or may not be there. The sexton was very puzzled by this information. Later, while in Madison, GA, I found a BRAWNER cemetery that claims to have the body of Dr. Lucius Brawner but no tombstone. The sexton of Elmhurst is addressing these issues.
