Davis Mortgage Georgia, Elbert County; Know all men by these presents that I Andrew W. Booth of the State and County aforesaid for and in consideration of ten dollars to me in hand paid by Terry T. Davis and Thomas S. Davis et al, as for the better securing the said Terry T. Davis and Thomas S. Davis as my security on a promissory note or single bond under seal made and signed by myself as principal and the said Thomas S. Davis and Terry T. Davis as security for me and payable to Ira Christian one day after date for two hundred and forty one 85/00 Dollars and dated the 3rd day of May 1854 have sold and delivered and do by these presents sell and deliver unto Terry T. Davis and Thomas S. Davis their heirs and assigns a certain Negro Girl named Lucy about seventeen years of age and dark complexioned also a certain tract or parcel of land containing seventy five acres more or less and bounded by George Gaines , Washington Booth and others as will more fully show by a Plat of the same And I the said Andrew W. Booth will warrant and defend the right and title of the said Negro Girl Lucy and also the said tract or parcel of land containing Seventy five acres bounded by George Gaines, Washington Booth and others to said Terry T. Davis and Thomas S. Davis their heirs and assigns against all persons whatsoever. Provided nevertheless that if the said Andrew W. Booth shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid the amount of said note or single bond to said Ira Christian or bearer and secure and save said Terry T. Davis and Thos S. Davis their heirs and assigns from loss or damage by reason of their being and continuing security as aforesaid, then this Mortgage to be void else to remain in full force and virtue In testimony whereof I the said Andrew W.
