Moon Georgia, Madison County: This Indenture made this the third day of August in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty three between William Ballenger of the State and County aforesaid of the one part and Jacob D.. Moon of the county of Elbert and said State of the other part Witnesseth the the said William Ballenger for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and seventy three dollars to him in hand paid at and before the signing sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and does by these presents grant bargain, sell and convey unto the said Jacob D. Moon his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the counties of Elbert and Madison in the said State on the waters of Mill Shoal Creek bounded on the south west by lands of James D. Mead and said William Ballenger on the west by said Ballenger on the north by James Carpenter on the East by James Hendrick and on the South by a tract known as the Hall tract inclosed in the following lines, to wit: beginning at a Black Gum corner at the North west corner of the said Hall tract running from thence with the line of said tract N 88 1/4 E 35 Chains 50 links to a red oak corner Thence with James Hendricks line N 1 E. 36 Chains 50 links to a Post Oak corner, thence with James Carpenter's line N. 88 W 53 Chains to a Pine Thence with said Ballengers line S 10 W 20 chains to a Black Jack corner. S 55 E 11 Chains to a Post Oak corner, thence with James D. Means line S 42 E 16 chains 60 links to the beginning Black Gum corner containing one hundred and eighty six and one half acres be the same more of less... To have and to hold said tract or parcel of land unto him the said Jacob D. Moon his heirs and assigns together with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereof to the same in any manner belonging to his and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee simple....And the said William Ballenger for himself his heirs Executors and Administrators the said bargained premises unto the said Jacob D. Moon his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof against the claim of themselves and against the claims of all other persons whatsoever.
