Indenture between Thomas Bryant & William Ray 15 Apr 1830 Elbert Co, GA BRYANT TO RAY Elbert County, Georgia Deed Book V page 158 Georgia : This Indenture made this fifteenth day of April in : the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and thirty Habersham : between Thomas Bryant of the county of Habersham of the one part and William C. Ray of the County of Elbert of the other part and both of the State aforesaid. Witnesseth, that the said Thomas Bryant hath for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said William C. Ray before the delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained & sold ,and do by these presents grant bargain and sell & convey unto the said William C.Ray a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county of Elbert and state aforesaid & adjoining Land of the said William C. Ray, John Merit, Moses Duncan, Aron Rice, and John Roberts containing by resurvey three hundred and two acres & one fourth. The land more or less, and having the following boundary, to wit, beginning at a pine corner at John Merrits line running thence S 23 W 32 chains 80 links to a pine corner thence S 56 W 58 chains 70 links to a post oak corner thence south 30 East 05 chains to a post oak corner thence S 74 E 11 chains 4 links to a post oak corner thence S 20 ½ E 56 chains to the beginning pine corner to have and to use & enjoy the above described premises to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the said William C. Ray his heirs or assigns forever in fee simple and the said Thomas Bryant do forever warrant and defend to the said William C. Ray the right and title thereof against the claims of myself my heirs or assigns and all and every person or persons whatsoever. In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and date first written. In presence of George W. Ray Peter Ray his Thomas X Bryant (SEAL) Mark Recorded the 9th August 1830 Georgia : Personally before me William Moss a Justice of the Elbert County : peace of said county came George W. Ray and on oath saith that he signed the above deed as a witness and that he saw Thomas Bryant sign seal and deliver the same to William Ray and that he saw Peter Ray sign it as witness ________ the 31st day of May 1830.
