1901, January 10—J.M. Craft Sr. to Joseph J. Fretwell.
	State of South Carolina, County of Anderson.
Whereas, Joseph J. Fretwell of the City of Anderson, South Carolina is the 
owner of certain lands on both sides of the Savannah River lying in Anderson 
County S.C. and Elbert County, Ga. empracing all water rights, shoals, 
fisheries & riparian rights of every kind down to Middleton Island in said 
river and whereas I claim some interest in the shoals and water adjacent to and 
above the said Middleton Island which I have agreed to release & convey to the 
said Joseph J. Fretwell, now thereupon:
	I, John M. Craft, Sr. of Elbert County for and in consideration of the 
sum of $50 dollars, sell & release unto the said Joseph J. Fretwell all shoals, 
fishing grounds, riparian rights lying just above Middleton Island in the 
Savannah River and known as Middleton Shoals formerly owned by Sugar Bond who 
conveyed same to John Spee_ about the year 1839.
