Indenture between John Duncan & William Ray 27 Dec 1827 Elbert County, GA DUNCAN TO RAY Elbert County, Georgia Deed Book V page 153 Georgia : This Indenture made this twenty seventh day of : December in the year of our Lord 1827 between Elbert County : John Duncan of the county & State aforesaid of the one part, [and William Ray of the other part .] Witnesseth that the said John Duncan for and in consideration of the sum of 48 dollars to him in hand paid and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and do by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said William Ray his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county aforesaid on the north fork of Beaver Dam Creek containing 28 ½ acres more or less beginning at a oak post corner thence S 78 East 10 chains to another oak corner thence S 16 E 7 chains ninety three links to another oak thence North 75 E 8 chains to a white oak corner thence [South] 75 E 80 chains 15 links to the post oak corner thence south 74 ch 66 L to a hickory corner north 16 west 27 chains & 20 links to the beginning corner to have and to hold said tract or parcel of land unto him the said William Ray his heirs and assigns together with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereof to the land in any manner belonging to his and their proper use benefit and behoove in fee simple and the said John Duncan for himself his heirs executors and administrators the said bargained premises unto the said William Ray his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the rights and title thereof against themselves and against all other persons whatsoever.
