Hall for certain considerations therein referred to and, Whereas, the conditions referred to in said deed made and executed by me to the said James C. and the covenants and promises made by the said James C. to me in another instrument of writing also dated the fifth day of June Eighteen hundred and fifty eight have all, without any exception whatever, been totally and fully complied with and discharged up to date, by the said James C. and his heirs; now, be it known to the Whole World that this is my acknowledgement of the same and that in the evening of life, old age having come upon me, in consideration of the devotion and tenderness with which the said James C. and his heirs have provide for and protected me through so many years of trial and financial embarassment, and for and in consideration of the love and affection which I have for them, I make this acknowledgement through the anxiety and in the hope, that, by the blessing of Almighty God, the heirs of James C. R. Crook, J. P. Additional Comments: Mariah Louisa Turman Hall (1808-1881) was the widow of John Pryor Hall (1797- 1838) and the daughter of George Turman and Vileta Higginbotham. The James C. Hall named in the above document was Lt. James Chambers Hall (1832-1862), CSA, who had died in Virginia during the War, leaving his widow and children living at the Hall homeplace at Goss, Elbert Co., to take care of his mother Mariah Hall. Mariah is buried in the Hall-Conwell cemetery located near the site of the homeplace, as is James C. Hall and wife.
