Whereas The Inferior Court of the County of Elbert when sitting for ordinary purposes on the fourth day of March in the year eighteen hundred and thirty nine upon the application of William Pulliam, Admr. of John Hall, deceased, did pass an order for the sale of the real estate of said deceased, hereinafter described (legal notice of such application having been first given in one of the public Gazettes of this State, to wit, in the Washingron News, for four months previous to the granting of the order aforesaid) having first given thirty days notice of said sale, and of the time and place thereof, in the public Gazette aforesaid and at the Court House in said County, did on the first Tuesday of November in the year eighteen hundred and thirtynine at the place of public sale in the County aforesaid, impose to Sale at public auction, under and by virture of the order aforesaid, the premises hereinafter mentioned. And Whereas the said premises were then and there knocked off to William Oglesby (who was the highest bidder for the same) at the sum of One Thousand Nine Hundred and Ninetyone Dollars. "Now this Indenture, made the sixth day of March in the year Eighteen hundred and forty, and in the sixty fourth year of the Independence of the United States of America, between the said William Pulliam of the County of Elbert and State aforesaid of the one part, and William Oglesby of the County of Elbert and State aforesaid of the other part. Wittnesseth that the said William Pulliam, Administrator as aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand nine hundred and ninety one dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold, al---, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, ali--, convey and confirm unto the said William Oglesby, his heirs and assigns, All that Tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the State aforesaid and County of Elbert on the Waters of Doves Creek containing one thousand one hundred and sixty seven acres of land, contained in the following boundries, to wit, beginning at a White Oak x and [long description being omitted here, it containing no names of streams, roads or landmarks], the above described land sold subject to the Dower or life estate of Mariah Hall, widow of the said John Hall, deceased. "To have and to hold, the said bargained premises, with all and singular title, rights, members and appurtenances thereof, whatsoever, to the said premises being, belonging or in any wise appertaining, with the remainders, rents iss---, and profits thereof to the only proper use, benefit and behoof of him the said William Oglesby his heirs, executors and Administrators and assigns, in fee simple; And the said William Pulliam, Administrator as aforesaid his heirs, executor, administrators the said bargained premises, unto the said William Oglesby his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, against all persons claiming by, from or under the said John Hall deceased, or the said William Pulliam Administrator as aforesaid but against no other persons whatsoever, shall and will forever warrant and defend by virtue of these presents. John Pryor Hall (1797-1838) was the son of William Hall and Sarah Blake. George Turman was son of Martin Turman and Ann Herndon (aka Nancy and Nanny), daughter of John Herndon.
