Deed Book R, page 304: "Georgia,Elbert County) Know all men by these presents that I, Blake Hall, otherwise called and known by the name of Richard Hall of the state and county aforesaid, being indebted to Gaines Thompson of the state and county aforesaid in the sum of Three hundred Dollars which debt I have contracted with and to the said Gaines Thompson by and in this latter Christian name by which I am called and known, to wit, Richard and whereas my father William Hall in his lifetime, to wit, on the eighth day of September in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and two by his deed of gift to myself by the former Christian name by which I am called and known, to wit, Blake, jointly with Mary Hall, Alley Hall, John Hall and Thomas Hall my sisters and brothers did give deliver and make sure unto the said Mary Hall, Alley Hall, John Hall and Thomas Hall jointly with myself by the name of Blake Hall, one negro woman Aney and her child Jeremiah and all her increase thereafter forever. Also two cows and calves with their increase, and two feather beds and furniture to be enjoyed and possessed by the said Mary, Alley, John and Thomas, jointly with myself, immediately after the death of our mother or as we become of age as the case may be - Now in consideration of a release and full and complete discharge of said Debt, by the said Gaines Thompson, to me by and in the name of Richard Hall, made executed and delivered bearing ___ date with these presents - I the said Richard Hall otherwise known and called by the name of Blake Hall have by these presents by and in the name of Blake Hall, the name by which I am mentioned called and mentioned in the said Deed ofGift, sold and conveyed and by these presents do sell and convey grant Bargain and secure unto the said Gaines Thompson his heirs and forever my undivided fifth part of the said negro woman Aney and her child Jeremiah with all her presents and future increase and I the said Blake Hall, otherwise called Richard Hall do by the presents, by and in the name of Blake Hall and by whatever name I am by law capable of conveying sell convey and secure to the said Gaines Thompson whatever interest I have by law in or to the said negro woman Aney and her child Jeremiah and her increase since the date of the said Bill of Sale and that may hereafter ___ or secure - And I hereby authorise and fully empower the said Gaines Thompson to ____ of my name and for me and in my name and in whatever name I or may be by law entitled, to sue for and recover the possession or value of my one fifth part or portion of the said negro woman Aney and her child Jeremiah and her increase. And to do and perform all acts in my name and for his benefit - that may be necessary to give him the possession and full and complete enjoyment of my part interest or potion in said negroes by virtue of said Deed of Gift. In witness whereof I thesaid Blake Hall otherwise known and called by the name of Richard Hall have by the said name of Blake Hall hereto set my hand and seal this 15thday of May 1818. his Blake X Hall [Seal] mark Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Philip Montague Georgia, Elbert County) Phillip Montague being duly sworn saith that he saw Blake Hall sign and seal the above instrument and that he this deponant also subscribed the same as a witness. Regisgtered 13 May 1818" [Submitter's notes: Blake Hall, also known as Richard or Dick Hall, was the oldest son of William Hall and Sarah Blake. His sister "Alley" was Alcy Hall and of which there is no further record. Blake Hall married in Habersham county to Elizabeth Pesnell.
