All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Chandler Eavenson http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00030.html#0007294 The following deed is contained in Elbert Co., GA deed book W, pages 49 and 50: "Georgia, Elbert County: This indenture made this thirteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight between John Hall and George Upshaw both of the State and County aforesaid, Witnesseth, that for and consideration of the sum of seven hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof is herby acknowledged that I the said John Hall have this day bargained and sold unto the said George Upshaw his heirs and assigns forever all the two following tracts or parcels of land, to wit - one tract whereon I now live containing two hundred and seven acres more or less adjoining land of Wm Bonds, Violette Turman and others on the waters of Beaverdam Creek, known as the usual muster ground of the forty second Batalion Georgia Militia. the other tract containing one hundred and fifty acres more or less it being the place whereon Samuel Shepherd now lives adjoining the above said tract of two hundred and seven acres, Jesse Edwards, Lindsay Oglesby and the said Violette Turman, which above two tracts of land I the said John Hall do hereby warrant and defend the right title interest claim or demand of myself my heirs executors administrators or assigns and all and every other person or persons whatsoever unto the said George Upshaw his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple forever.
