Tate of the state and county aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Richardson Hunt for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds sterling to him in hand paid by the said William H. Tate at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grand bargain sell ___ and forever confirm unto the said William H. Tate his heirs and assigns all that tract of land lying in the said county of Elbert on the branches of the Beaverdam Creek containing three hundred and seventy three acres be the same more or less lying within the bounds hereafter ____ Viz ___ at the time of the original survey on the west by Nathaniel Allen John Walton on the southwest by James Ready and John Lamb on the northeast and south east said Lamb and Ann Trentham and on the north east ___ by Thomas Akins and said Allen and was granted to the said Richardson Hunt on the thirtyfirst day of December of the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety fourth by his excellency Geo. Mathews Esquire Governor of the said state to have and to hold the aforesaid bargained land and premises unto the only proper use benefit and behoof of the said William H. Tate his heirs and assigns forever in fee simpkle, and the said Richardson Hunt doth for himself his heirs and assigns covenant and agree to and with the said William H. Tate that he and they shall and will warrant and by these presents forever defend the aforesaid bargained land premises so that the said William H. Tate his heirs and assigns shall at all times hereafter be quietly and peacably possessed of the same in witness whereof the said Richardson Hunt doth hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written. Registered 28 Feb 1795 Additional Comments: This is the only known mention of Samuel Higginbotham, Jr. in deed records of Elbert Co., GA but a civil suit filed against him by Claiborne Sandidge, posted on this archives site, shows that he was alive after the death of Samuel Higginbotham, Sr. in 1803.
