This indenture made this first day of September in the year of our Lord one 
thousand eight hundred and fourteen between Claiborn Sandidge and Jane 
Sandidge his wife of the county of Elbert and State of Georgia of the first 
part and Thomas Jones of the said county and State of the other part 
Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of thirty dollars to him 
in hand paid, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have bargained 
and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the above mentioned 
Thomas Jones; one lot of land in the town and village of Elberton known by the 
number twenty nine it being a corner lot on the main streets, containing one 
acre be the same more or less, we Claiborn Sandidge and Jane Sandidge his 
wife, do covenant and agree with the said Thomas Jones that we our Heirs 
Executors, etc will warrant and forever defend the said lot of land and 
premises together with all and singular the appurtences thereunto belonging 
against the claim or claims of us our heirs executors etc or the claim or 
claims of any other person or persons whatsoever to have and to hold the said 
lot of land with all and singular the premises aforesaid with all and singular 
the Estate Right Title members and appurtances unto the said Thomas Jones his 
heirs and assigns etc to his and their own proper use and behoof forever in 
testimony whereof we have set our hands and affixed our seals the day and year 
first above written. Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of

Additional Comments:
Claiborne Sandidge was married on 24 Oct 1802 in Elbert Co., GA to Jane 
Higginbotham, daughter of Rev. Soldier Col. Samuel Higginbotham and wife Jane 
Satterwhite. Claiborne's son John Q. Sandidge in an affidavit of 23 Apr 1853 
in DeSoto Co., MS stated that Claiborne was a Rev. Soldier, married Jane on 24 
Oct 1802 while residing in Elbert Co., GA, that Jane died 8 Dec 1827 and 
Claiborne died 9 Feb 1843, both Elbert Co. Various legal papers in Elbert Co. 
show Claiborne Sandidge referring to his wife Jane as a daughter of Samuel 
Higginbotham.
