All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Chandler Eavenson http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00030.html#0007294 Deed - Mark Thornton to Thomas Thornton -1814 The following deed is shown in Elbert Co., GA Deed Book Y, page 73: "Georgia, Elbert Co. - This indenture made and entered into this twelfth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen between Mark Thornton of the one part and Thomas Thornton son of the said Mark of the other part, all of the County and State aforesaid, Witnesseth that the said Mark Thornton for and in consideration of the full and entire love and affection that I bear him and bear towards my said son Thomas Thornton do by these presents, and in behalf of myself my heirs do give, release and confirm unto the said Thomas Thornton his heirs and assigns forever all that devided tract or parcel of land whereon I now live situate lying and being in the County of Elbert and on big Coldwater Creek, containing by estimation two hundred and twenty acres more or less, lying between and bounded by John Johnston on the North, Hiraim Gaines on the South, and Moses Fleming on the West. To have and to hold the aforesaid parcel of land and all and singular the appurtenances unto the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Thomas Thornton his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple, so that no act of mine or anything done by me or other claim or claims set up by my heirs shall ever disturb the quiet and peacable possession of the said Thomas Thornton his heirs and assigns in quietly enjoying the above parcel of land at and after the death of me the said Mark and my beloved wife Mary.
