All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Chandler Eavenson http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00030.html#0007294 August 13, 2009, 5:56 pm Written: May 11, 1815 Recorded: May 15, 1815 This Indenture made the eleventh of May and the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen and of American Independence thirty ninth and fortieth between Daniel Thornton of the State of Georgia and County of Elbert of one part and John Beck of the State and County aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the aforesaid Daniel Thornton for and in consideration of two hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said John Beck before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Daniel Thornton hath bargained sold and by these presents bargain sell and forever confirm unto the said John Beck his heirs and assigns sixty acres of land more or less lying being situated in the county and State aforesaid on the waters of the Beaverdam and Van's creek beginning at a persimmon corner on the road leading to Petersburg thence north to a burch corner on said Beck land thence north to a red oak corner on Woods land thence south along Woods line to a made hickory corner thence east along a made line to the beginning persimmon corner so as to include sixty acres of land more or less the said Thornton does by these presents bind himself his heirs executors and administrator forever to defend the above named tract of land from the claim or claims of every other person whatsoever unto the said John Beck his heirs executor and administrator in Witness whereof the said Daniel Thornton has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and date above written. I Sally Thornton lawful wife of the within named Daniel Thornton do declare that I have without compulsion of my husband or any other person whatsoever of my own will and choice signed sealed and delivered the within instrument of writing between John Beck and my lawful husband Daniel Thornton and I do hereby renounce all title or claim of Dower that I might be entitled to after the death of lawful husband Daniel Thornton ___ out of the tennemint therein conveyed In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date within written.
