I, the undersigned, a Private of the 3rd Regiment of Ga Mla do solemnly swear that I will not bear arms against the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, or give any information, or do any Military Duty whatsoever until properly released from this obligation. " [Submitter's notes: Asa Chandler Fortson (1847-1906) was the son of Jesse Marion Fortson and Frances Mills of Elbert Co., GA.
