Hall (1832-1885) and great great grandmother Mariah Louisa Turman Hall (1808-1881) are as follows: "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA I, Mary A. Hall, of the County of Elbert, State of Georgia, do solemnly swear or affirm, in presence of Almighty God, that I will henceforth faithfully support, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and the Union of the States thereunder; and that I will, in like manner, abide by and faithfully support all laws and proclamations which have been made during the existing Rebellion with reference to the emancipation of slaves, So help me God. "Signed Mary A. Hall "Subscribed and Sworn to before me, at Elberton this 16 day of Oct 1865. R. T. McCarty, Clk, Sup. Court. The above named has fair complexion, dark hair, and dark eyes; and is 5 feet 3 inches high. Age 33." An identical document, signed on the same date before the same official, is signed Maria Hall and she was described as fair complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, 5 feet 3 inches high and age 57.
