W. M. Coile filled his regular appointment at the Baptist church Saturday and Sunday....Messrs. Wyly Thornton, Walter Arnold, of Elberton, S. P. Adair and Ed Barton spent Sunday in town with friends....Mrs. Lovie Stephenson and brother, Mr. McGinty of Atlanta, will visit Miss Maud McGinty this week....Mr. Jim Carithers of Columbia visited his parents here last week....I. H. Cordele and Co. have moved their stock of goods to the C. C. Vaughans corner and are ready to serve all their friends....C. P. Carruth in company with the distinguished J. R. Booth spent Sunday in our city.. ..Mrs. W. N. Bailey, Misses Dalree Adams and Hattye Sisk attended the house party given last week by Mrs. A. H. Strickland, at their beautiful home in Bowersville, complimentary to the latters sister, Miss Cleo Eavenson of Atlanta....Quite a delightful pinic was enjoyed by several couples last Friday on the banks of "beautiful Beaverdam." A sumptuous luncheon was served, as the last rays of the sun were peeping out, and seemingly satisfied the fastidious. GOSS Mr. and Mrs. Willie Smith and little daughter visited Mrs. M. P. Webb of Goss last week....Miss Fannie Crittenden, after a pleasant visit to relatives in Hart county, has returned home....Dan Bond was in Goss Sunday, the guest of his sister, Mrs. G. R. Carithers....Willie Butler and sister, Miss Fannie, visited Misses Maggie and Lyttie Webb Sunday....G. B. Conwell went up to Atlanta Saturday on business. He returned Sunday....Willie Ragan is suffering with a severe boil on his hand....Mrs. M. P. Webb and two little children, Asa and Lissie, visited relatives here Sunday....A. C. Fortson, one of our popular citizens, went to Elberton Saturday on business.. ..Mr. and Mrs. George Loehr of Elberton visited in Goss a few days last week....G. B. Moore of Nickville visited here Thursday....Mr. Asbury Andrews was very sick a few days last week....Two negro children came near being drowned at Brewer's mill near here last Saturday, and if it had not been for Messrs. A. J. Holliday and Parks Ragan they would no doubt have lost their lives. NICKVILLE Our farmers are engaged in a battle this week with General Green. If none will fall out of the ranks we will gain the victory....M. D. Webb returned home last Saturday from the reunion of the old soldiers at Louisville and among all the great things he saw he put the emphasis on the pretty young ladies that were there, and says more of the Confederate sons ought to have gone....C. M. Seymour has returned home from his trip to Washington, DC. He looks better and can tell a heap of interesting news....G. C. Oglesby is going to make a report this fall of how much stock food can be raised on three acres of land....The Farmers Institute of Antioch was not a failure last Saturday, if there were not but seven present. They had baskets in proportion with appetite pleasers. And Mr. C. M. Seymour, Uncle Joe Deadwyler and A. P. Deadwyler told jokes while they were eating to extend the time of pleasure....I suppose some saw mill man can furnish Ms. J. M. Benton and C. C. Haynes with a bill of lumber to enlarge their parlors. Two young ladies have arrived at their home to board awhile....Messrs. J. R. Booth and Charlie Carruth went to Bowman last Sunday afternoon....Rev. E. R.
