E. Thornton, of Hartwell, Ga., registered last Saturday afternoon and Sunday at the Maxwell House. They were returning home from a pleasure trip and owing to their train being late had to spend the night in Elberton. While at the Maxwell House they met a great many of their friends andrelatives. They were entertained by their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Brown, also Miss Sarah Hansard, who made their stay as pleasant as possible. Dr. and Mrs. Thornton lived at Middleton in 1894 and at one time Elberton was the home of Dr. Thornton for two years or more. They said their stay at the Maxwell House was the most pleasant occasion of their trip. While on their way going out on this trip, some twenty days ago, they stopped at the Gholston Inn and called on many of their friends, who were very glad indeed to see them after an absence of thirteen years. Dr. Thornton, since leaving Middleton, has been actively engaged in the practice of medicine at Hartwell and Hart county and has not taken scarcely any time (only when taking a post-graduate course) for rest and recreation. He says he expects to devote the entire year of 1907 to rest and recreation and a post-graduate course.
