Elberton - Ester [Esther] Betsy Maddox Adams, 98, of Magnolia Estates, died 
Friday July 23, 1993. A native of Cobb County, Mrs. Adams was a daughter of the 
late William Anderson and Emma Jane Cottrell Maddox and was married to the late 
L. A. Adams, Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of Elberton First Baptist 
Church. She was the oldest member of the church. She was preceded in death by a 
son L.A.Adams, Jr. Graveside services will be at 4:30 PM today in Forest Hill 
Memorial Park with the Dr. Howard McNamara officiating. Survivors include a 
daughter, Jane Adams Wilhite, Elberton, four grandchildren; and nine great 
grandchildren. Pall bearers will be her grandsons. The family will be at the 
residence of Jane Adams Wilhite, 131 Myrtle St. In lieu of flowers, memorials 
may be made to Elberton First Baptist Church Missions Fund. Berry Funeral Home 
has charge of arrangements. 

Additional Comments:
Her husband was Luther Alonzo Adams who died 10 Jul 1978. Her daughter Jane 
Adams (1919-2008) was married to James Thomas Wilhite (1908-1962), son of 
Arthur William Wilhite (1870-1925) and Georgia Mildred Almond (1877-1954), 
daughter of Isaac Bolton Almond (1843-1916) and Cora Almond (1856-1916). Esther 
Maddox Adams was born 4 Nov 1894.
