JAMES M. CARTER DEAD - HE WAS THE FATHER OF CAPTAIN YANCEY CARTER - Hartwell, Ga., May 18 - Hon. James M. Carter, a pioneer citizen of Hart county, who died Sunday night at the home of his son-in-law, Rev. Thomas A. Thornton, was buried in Elberton last Monday morning. He was 84 years of age. He leaves the following children: Captain Yancey Carter, Florence M. Carter, chief of police of Hartwell; James Carter, Jr., Mrs. T. A. Thornton, Mrs. Homer Mickel, of Elberton, Ga., and the late Mrs. McAlpin Arnold of Elberton.
