Harvey Lester “Bill” Chatham, 72, of Elberton, died Monday, December 27, 2004, 
at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Atlanta.

Born October 21, 1932, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late 
Morris “Shorty” and Lucille Bailey Chatham. He attended DeKalb Tech and 
Georgia Tech, was retired from Owens-Illinois Glass as an Electronic 
Technician, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the 
Korean Conflict. Mr. Chatham was preceded in death by brothers Jimmy C. 
Chatham and Stewart Chatham, and sisters, Ceumi Hart and Mary Etta Chatham.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Thomas Chatham, Elberton; two daughters, 
Patricia Ann Nichols and Teresa Marie Cross, both of Atlanta; a brother, 
George Chatham, Hartwell; sisters, Marion Sanders, Kathy Alewine and Diane 
Wilson, all of Hartwell, Emma Christian, Anderson, S.C., and Mae Adams, Ila; 
and four grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be 
made to North East Georgia Animal Shelter, 870 Bear Creek Road, Lavonia, Ga. 
30553.

Strickland Funeral Home, Hartwell, was in charge of arrangements.
